What We Believe
We are Christians:
This means that above all we seek to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and make Him known throughout our community and beyond. These fundamentals of the Christian faith are summarized in ancient statements such as the Apostle’s Creed and Nicene Creed.
We are Anglicans:
This means that our expression of worship and church structure fits within the Anglican tradition, with our doctrine and traditions expressed in the 39 Articles and The Book of Common Prayer 1662.
It’s with great sadness that we recognise many Anglican churches have abandoned the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Here at the Geraldton Anglican Cathedral, we are steadfastly orthodoxy, and stand with the majority of world wide Anglicans who likewise uphold the faith that was given once for all to God’s people. The Jerusalem Declaration is a contemporary expression of this.
We are Evangelicals:
This means that we, like the 16th century protestant reformers who used the term, affirm that the Bible is our ultimate authority, and that salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. A summary of this can be found here.
Do I need to be Anglican to attend?
Not at all! Anyone is welcome to attend no matter what your church background is.
Do I need to be Christian to attend?
Nope! Whether you are of a different faith, don’t believe in God, or have no idea what you think, we warmly welcome you along to hear from the Bible and investigate who Jesus is for yourself.

At our core, we believe in the great reformation truths of:
- God’s Word alone. This is our ultimate authority in matters of faith (see 2 Timothy 3:14-17, Matthew 4:1-11, Colossians 3:16).
- God’s grace alone. Our salvation comes only from God’s love and initiative (see John 3:16, Ephesians 2:4-10, 1 Timothy 1:15).
- God’s Son (Christ) alone saves. It is only Christ’s death and resurrection that secures our forgiveness and eternal life (see John 14:6, Romans 1:1-6 & 6:23, 1 Peter 2:24-25).
- God’s salvation by faith alone. We receive God’s salvation in repentance and faith with no human effort required to be right with God (see Romans 1:16-17, 3:21-26).
- God’s glory alone. All honour is to be given to God alone (see Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Corinthians 15:20-28).
