Easter encompasses the essential truths of our faith.
On Good Friday we have the sombre memorial that Jesus took upon Himself all that separates us from God. His sacrifice that brought reconciliation was bought at great cost.
It is with good reason that our online Good Friday service foregrounded the majesty and grandeur of the passion narrative in John 18 and 19. Reading the words simply and unadorned is both powerful and moving. And yet Good Friday is incomplete without Easter Sunday.
Today we rejoice in the joy of the risen Saviour, the Lord who brings light and life, security and comfort. It has been well and oft said this year that in this time of tragedy and crisis we have this beacon of hope shining in the darkness even in our social isolation.
From the BCP Easter Day Collect:
Grant us by your grace to set our minds on things above, so that by your continual help our whole life may be transformed…
Christ is risen, He is risen indeed!
Happy Easter, Peter
