It was a privilege to play a small part in the Consecration Service in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Sydney on 14th April, as did Archdeacon Tim Mildenhall (Broome) and our Chancellor, Peter Williams.
The presenting bishops were David Mulready and Ray Smith. Archbishop Roger Herft led the consecration; Bishop Robert Forsythe presided at the Lord’s Supper. It was a full cathedral; Gary and Christine Nelson looked very happy. It was good that their 3 sons could be there. It was a great occasion which honoured our Lord Jesus Christ.
It was at this service that Gary Nelson was ‘made’ a bishop. The next stage in this ‘two-part’ process is for Gary to be installed as the Bishop of North West Australia.
Plans are well underway for the Gary’s Installation Service in Holy Cross Cathedral on Saturday 26th May, starting at 11.00 am. Archbishop Roger Herft will be performing the Installation. Our choir and our music group will be taking part in the service together with guest organist, Mike Leuty.
The service will be followed by an informal light lunch in the QE II centre to which you are all invited.
Please pray for Gary, Christine and their foster son Lindsay as they drive from Sydney to Geraldton in May and then begin to settle in.
Love in Christ
